燃燒 / 焦傷
Burned Up 這個英文單字很好理解，但 Combust 或 Combustion 相對就較為生冷。
根據英國劍橋字典，Combust／Combustion 的解釋為 the process of burning，意指燃燒的過程，感覺上比 Burned Up（燃燒起來）更為難受痛苦。
不過在占星學裡，這兩個單字都是指行星位於距離太陽 16 分到 1–7.5 度的位置。
自古以來，太陽就常被比喻為權威者，世運占星就常以春分盤的太陽視為當權者，以太陽的狀態來預測當權者今年的運勢。甚至把太陽當作第一宮，其它宮位以此類推成為衍生宮，可以說是現代占星以太陽星座預測個人運勢的濫觴。
當行星非常接近太陽時，其光線會消失在太陽光芒之下，就好比行星在這段消失光芒的期間，能量活力被削減，因此被視為虛弱無力、磨難與恐懼，甚至是死亡的凶兆。
若將太陽比喻成君王，行星則是朝臣，由於君威難測，行星接見太陽時，戰戰競競，其光芒被掩蓋，難以發揮力量，中國古代也非常重視如此的天象，無論在東方或西方是非常古老的判斷法則。
以下為古典文獻中實際的應用：
And if he was falling or burned up or corrupted by the infortunes, and he was in a bad place of the circle, it indicates restriction in livelihoods, and severity in the land tax and lands, and it increases worry and false rumors, and harm will be prevalent in writers and merchants.
若水星在果宮、逢太陽焦傷或被凶星傷害，或落在凶宮，人民生計將受到限制，稅負嚴苛，擔憂與謠言四起，作家或商人將受到重大的傷害。

And this is that you should look to see where the Lot fell—that is, into whose house or exaltation or bound or triplicity. Which if the planet were retrograde or burned up or in a malign place, that thing will become cheaper. But if it were in a place of strength or in an angle, and especially in the Midheaven, that thing will become more burdensome and will be of a greater price. And if the lord of that house arrived at the place of its own descension, that thing will become more cheap.
